As the rodent clings to his partner’s shoulder, a light wind picks up ruffling his short fur and Kai’s hair. He shifts his position a little so his hind feet had proper footing against the males back. His ears pulled back slightly at his partner’s words, he hated being reminded of his failure. The mere mention of their loss at the league, his overconfidence causing them to lose the match, caused Thor to wince. It was like reopening an old wound.
“Chaa…” They were well-rested now, and he’s had a lot of time to reflect and grieve and get the anger out of his system. Like Kai said, it was a minor setback, just another hill they had to climb in order to further their goals, and nothing was gonna stop them either. No matter how many times they might fall, they’d simply get back up, cause failure wasn’t an option. He made a promise to himself, and a promise to his partner that they would show the world what they were made of.
His right paw squeezes the male’s shoulder as he nods his head at the question, while his left held up a good portion of his upper body so he could lean forward on Kai’s shoulder. His head popping out in the light-haired boy’s vision. Sparks briefly danced along his cheeks and the electric mouse gives a sharp grin full of teeth. His resolve strengthening with the speech.
“Raichu!” Of course, he was with you Kai. He wouldn’t wanna be anywhere else.
The weight of the rodent never bothered Kai. At most, he felt like a sack that was attempting to distribute his weight as a means to not be DISPROPORTIONATE to his shoulders. Gotta admit, in ways he was thankful for that cause if that wasn’t the case, there was no way in HELL Thor was sticking on his shoulder for long periods of time; he’d walk at his side like any other bipedal or quadrupedal would. In fact, the allowance of this behavior was relatively new. Kai was against interacting with the pokemon in ANY nature that had nothing to do with training & knew that many saw his methods as cold. Pokemon were more than just creatures you use for battle—they were also ‘friends’. God he hated that argument.
It also didn’t help the fact that his own team, the array of different elemental creatures seemed to know that he was keeping distance on purpose & lead by their fearless chubby orange leader, the entire team attempted to get on the better side of their trainer. Had to admit, given how he was, it was amazing that they didn’t hate him. Sure, he wasn’t the WARMEST person in the world but Kai made it his duty to make sure they had everything; they were never on the street, always were kept on top, physical condition, fed & pampered (not really by him but still). Gratitude for their contribution to the team was rewarded. He was not much for words of encouragement & the expression of friendship & love was foreign to Kai. But, action was his strong suit & showing that he cared via action was something he could do.
& he did. Hence where they were today. The sparks of electricity did not phase him nor did he fear them. He learned the hard way to keep himself calm & grounded in order to sustain less damage than what he would’ve gotten had he panicked over the smallest spark. If anything the enthusiasm caused a smirk to etch itself along line-like lips. “Should’ve known better than to ask that question. All else fails at least you’ll still be here with me.” & oddly enough, that was more of a comfort to Kai than anything else.
Enough sentiment. “Alright, here’s the plan.” He began, knowing Thor would be able to understand & delegate to the others once training started. “We’re gonna make it to the next city. We’re not touching the gym until we’ve built ourselves up enough to where we KNOW we can smack around anyone & everyone in that gym. We are not losing anymore unless we severely underestimate our opponents. The margain for error is going to be very small; we’re gonna have to be COMPLETELY off our game if we’re losing left & right & that’s not happening. We’re gonna set up to train & all of us, myself included.” & to cement the ending of that statement, his hand came up & his thumb turned inward to face his chest. “We’re a unit. We win & lose together.”
